Style Showdown: Comic Con Face-Offs and the Battle of the Blondes

From Amanda Seyfried’s bright choice to Katie Holmes’ sheer miss, see which stars got it right—and which ones should fire their stylists.

Trend: Bright Colors with Black Accents

Hit: Amanda Seyfried hit up Comic Con in San Diego to promote her new film In Time wearing a Prabal Gurung dress and Prada heels. First off, we love the pockets. We also love how the black piping breaks up the wall of color into sections, something the asymmetrical hemline does as well.

Miss: Freida Pinto also attended the convention wearing Michale Kors, but the dress does absolutely nothing to show off her figure. It’s such a simple shift that the color completely overwhelms her. She looks like she might have been hired to work at the convention.

Trend: Bright Mini-Dress

Hit: Taylor Swift is the latest blonde to wear this blue dress from Tibi. The skinny gold belt nicely breaks up the print of the dress and defines her waistline. Our only criticism is that she always plays it so safe that sometimes her look is a bit on the boring side. But it definitely is working for her.

Miss: Blake Lively and Kaley Cuoco both lose points for pairing leopard with the floral print (really?) and also for not defining the waist, which is creating a weird boob/waist wrinkled section on both of them.

Trend: Sheer Tops

Hit: Believe it or not, we really like Kristen Stewart’s outfit from the Breaking Dawn panel at Comic Con. Her hair and makeup look great and her sheer white top is just see-through enough to be considered sexy and not trashy. Her ankle jeans fit perfectly and she finishes the look with her signature worn-in Chucks.

Miss: Katie Holmes misses the point of this trend completely by pairing a bright pink bra with a completely transparent blue lace top.
