Molly Sims: Center Stage

If anyone knows the power of a little panache, it’s one Mrs. Molly Sims (note the Mrs.) The supermodel is not only the creative force behind too-chic jewelry line Grayce by Molly Sims, but she’s also recently taken a well-heeled step into host role on Lifetime’s Project Accessory. It’s essentially a match made in style heaven. From Korean spas to lusting over lists (and avoiding on-set theft), I caught up with Molly to pick up a few posh pointers.

Julie Bensman: You’re hosting the new show, just launched an eponymous website, continue to grow Grayce and, oh, just got married in September. What’s the secret to keeping it all together?

Molly Sims: Being really organized. It’s all about keeping lists, lists, and more lists — it feels so good to cross items off! I also have an amazing, close-knit circle of family and friends (and wonderful husband) that I draw upon for strength and support.

JB: So far on Project Accessory, we’ve seen everything from Spandex to Swarovski (and the season isn’t over yet!) What have been the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of hosting?

MS: I’ve loved seeing our extremely talented group of contestants rise to the task of every challenge. I’m so excited to see what they are going to create each week. It’s a real behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making accessories, which has never been shown on television. The most challenging aspect is NOT being able to keep the pieces they make!

JB: How do you unwind when not working?

MS: Hiking with my animal kingdom (I have three dogs), going to the Korean spa with my girlfriends, and relaxing at home with the puppies and my husband.

JB: What’s the best fashion/beauty advice you’ve ever received?

MS: My mother taught me to always be “graceful and grateful.” This attitude/way of life translates into how you carry yourself in this world. To me, that is real beauty.

JB: How would you define your personal style?

MS: Classically Chic. My trick is to put money into your good basics. That will carry your wardrobe a long way.

JB: When traveling, what items can always be found in your carry on/suitcase?

MS:

  1. Warm cashmere socks and big cozy scarf (I always bundle up on flights)
  2. My iPad
  3. By Terry Lip Gloss
  4. Snacks (you can’t always trust airplane food)
