Jason Wu Fall 2012 Runway Review

Broken up into segments – Mao military, Qing dynasty, and the glamour of “Shanghai Express” (the latter of which was not unlike Tadashi Shoji’s inspiration this season), the collection included a mix of military green, smoking hot red, and neutrals, while silhouettes were kept mostly fitted with a slew of stiffly tailored jackets, high-waist pencil skirts, skin grazing cocktails dresses, and cinched waists.

Breaking up the collection was an astute move on Wu’s part with more understated, streamlined looks counterbalanced by elaborate embroidery (most impressively on shoulders), and lush touches of fur. In fact, it’s worth noting that, like at BCBG, Wu’s show included outerwear with contrasting fur sleeves – a blossoming trend? We shall see…
