VOGUE POLITICS

Senator Hillary Clinton was set to appear on the cover of US Vogue during the presidential race, but she backed-out last minute right before the photo-shoot was to take place. Clinton’s camp said that there were concerns that if Clinton appeared in Vogue, she would appear too feminine.

Rumors spread that Wintour was none too pleased and those rumors were later confirmed in Wintour’s February editor’s letter where she wrote “Imagine my amazement, then, when I learned that Hillary Clinton, our only female president hopeful, had decided to steer clear of our pages at this point in her campaign for fear of looking too feminine. The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying. This is America, not Saudi Arabia. It’s also 2008.”
