Bright colors, cutesy dresses, exaggerated accessories and sequins galore. Designers refer to over the top, pop culture and reference Valley of the Dolls for Holiday ‘08 (which just happens to be one of my new favorite reads – although it has held its long reign as a 1960’s cult classic).
Sex and the City has nothing on these metropolitan girls who live fabulously in New York City apartments, wear candy colored dresses adorned in diamonds and aren’t afraid to go overboard, in every sense of the word.
Still, with a lot of glitter, color and oversized embellishments, this modern day 60’s muse still manages to pull it off, at least from an outside observer’s perspective. Think Andy Warhol’s muse in hi-definition. Perhaps these are the colors she envisions while ingesting all of those ‘dolls’…
Dior’s direct reference of these glamazons resulted in wide-eyed ladies with thick makeup, ratted bouffon hair and brightly colored cocktail dresses.
Michael Kors sparkles up his lady with a more subdued color palette and simple silhouette.
Missoni sends girls down in daringly short mini dresses with horizontal sequin stripes.
Moschino gives them something to cover up in with an extraordinary fur mini coat in a fluorescent periwinkle.
Top the look off with a feather clutch by Jamin Uech and some kitschy shoes by Le Silla. Just make sure to tame down the hair and makeup for real life.
