The mini dress is definitely hot, but shorts are not standing far behind in line for the most wanted trend for Spring 2009. Designers sent an array of tailored shorts down the runways paired with blousy tops and structured suit jackets for a modern version of the suit. Geometric prints, bright colors and feminine trims added a unique twist to the standard “short shorts” we’ve seen before.
Dries Van Noten pairs a windowpane print short with a horizontal striped jacket for a busy look that manages to stay simple.
A revisit to Miami Vice, Alexander Wang goes Florida bold with a turquoise blue short –suit.
Dressed up Safari, Ralph Lauren brightens it up with a shiny metallic print short and sparkly top.
Chloe is sweet and feminine with scallop, trimmed shorts belted with a ribbon bow and paired with an oversized matching jacket.
Sleek and metallic, Derek Lam adds a shiny print to Bermuda shorts paired with another trend favorite, the nude top.
Don’t be intimated by the thigh exposing trend. Throw on some tanning lotion or go with a longer version if you feel threatened by the short lengths.
