Designers are using printed faces and graphic designs on their Spring 2009 creations
Graphic T shirts, slinky dresses and accessories were printed with loose animal sketches, abstract shapes and fashionable portraits displayed on runways for spring 2009. While silhouettes were kept simple, prints went overboard with size and color making a statement of their own.
Just Cavalli sketches a large sized portrait of a beautiful black and white profile on a simple white dress.
Eley Kishimoto gets funky in bright colors and reptile prints on a yellow and purple jersey dress.
DKNY exudes a relaxed rock n roll vibe with a screen printed magenta tee paired with hybrid pants.
Elise Overland goes fishing with an “open to interpretation” ink spot, printed T-shirt dress in graphic black and white.
Karl Lagerfeld puts himself into his art, literally, by printing a handle bag with is headshot printed on the fabric.
Are you feeling creative and want to partake on the trend by designing something yourself? Although anyone can make a silk screen print on a T shirt nowadays, I would stay clear of putting your own image on it, unless you have the credentials like Lagerfeld to support the well deserved narcissism.
