As the outlook of the world’s economic climate continues to look bleak, the fashion world and its creative masterminds are looking for ways to press forward and continue to innovate, while simultaneously being sensitive to the present melancholic world atmosphere. As in previous recessions, the natural human reaction is to look for stability and protection, and these feelings inevitably find their way in fashion world through the lengthening of hemlines; raising of necklines; and focus on structured, well-tailored garment that portrait timeless chic, rather then a passing fad. Given these indicators, stability and protection were underlying themes that played the common thread among many of this season’s pre-fall presentations.
