MICHELLE OBAMA ON THE VOGUE COVER

First Lady Michelle Obama graces March 2009’s issue of Vogue making her only the second First Lady in history.  The other was Hillary Rodham Clinton in December 1998.

The March issue is the Spring issue and Mrs. Obama wears a vibrant pink Jason Wu sheath on the cover – building-up the anticipation to Wu’s Fall 2009 collection, which he is presenting on Friday, February 13, to an even higher all-time high after the First Lady first opted to wear the designer to the high profile Presidential Inaugural Balls.

The cover and inside spread were photographed by Annie Leibovitz at the Hay-Adams Hotel during the presidential inauguration. Leibovitz also shot Clinton for her Vogue cover. The First Lady reportedly chose her own looks for the shoot which including a black Narciso Rodriguez dress and a J. Crew cardigan, top and skirt ensemble from the Fall collection. Photos of her with President Barack Obama from the inauguration ceremonies are also featured.

The story includes interviews with Vice president Joe Biden, his wife Jill Biden, and Valerie Jarrett — a longtime adviser to President Obama. The interview was conducted by Vogue’s Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley.
