TIBI F/W 2009

When it came to explaining her inspiration for her Fall/Winter 2009 collection, Tibi designer Amy Smilovic stated in her program notes that “Fall is about a light hearted moodiness influenced by the Russian fairytale.”

The designer’s inspiration translated into an abundance of ruffles – easy to wear asymmetrical blazers and dainty coats – bright yellow and pink looks, each of which were accented with careful brocade, embroidery, or beading, as well as dresses and blouses with shoulders that were over-sized, slit or accented with delicate pleating creating an angular shoulder sure to be coveted by shoppers come fall.

The Russian-influence shined through most prominently via igloo-shaped fur hats – shapkas – and fur wraps (the fur accessories in the collection were all branded Tibi for Adrienne Landau), that the designer paired with a number of her looks.
