ESSIE TEAMS UP WITH RIPKA

Rarely do I use a nail polish that is anything other than an essie shade.  Their glorious limited edition summer 2008 neon collection sealed that deal.

Now comes news that the brand has come-out with a new limited edition neon collection for the summer (shades are: Punchy Pink, Delicious berryicicle, Flirty Fuchsia, Flaming hot magenta, Funky Limelight – Brilliant Day-Glo yellow, Perky Purple, and Electric Boogie Violet).  There is also a summer collection inspired by the runways (shades are: Lovie Dovie, True flamingo Pink, Chubby Cheeks, Sunset coral, Luscious Lips, Sultry pink, Not Just A Pretty Face, Naturally Nude, Cute As A Button, Juicy Persimmon Delight, Funny Face, and Provocative Fuchsia).  It was also just revealed that essie will be launching a collection inspired by jewelry designer Judith Ripka.

Essie Weingarten, the founder and president of essie, broke the news and noted that not only will each bottle of polish be infused with diamond dust, but three bottles will contain a surprise gift – one will have a diamond, another a sapphire and yet another will contain an emerald. The bottles will retail for $15 (as opposed to the usual $8 that essie’s polishes go for), and Weingarten swears that the jewels will not be damaged from being in the nail polish bottles.

Each of the shades is formulated with diamond dust, which Weingarten says gives the colors a soft glow that isn’t sparkly. The fruits of the collaboration will hit in August 2009 and will include three colors: Put a Ripka Ring on It (a soft pink), Heart My JR Jewels (a deep burgundy), and Queen of Hearts (a true red). The shades will come packaged in soft-touch boxes so that customers cannot tell whether or not the polishes house a jewel before making their purchase.
