FASHIONISTAS HONORED

Fashionistas in all areas of the industry are being honored as of late. Frida Giannini has just picked up the Fashion Editors’ Club of Japan award for International Designer of the Year – which made history given that it was the first time a woman has ever received that award.

She was also named fashion designer of the year by Glamour magazine.

British designer Anya Hindmarch, who recently made news after a number of her boutiques were burglarized, has received a very high honor – a MBE from Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.

Hindmarch was of course thrilled, although she admitted to being nervous and agonizing over what to wear. She told Vogue’s online site that she wanted something simple and elegant that she would not regret in pictures in later years to come. She opted for a simple Marni dress with long strings of pearls, and one of her own python clutches.

After receiving the honor, the British designer said that she “celebrated with a fantastic lunch in a private room upstairs at Il Vaporetto restaurant – which my dear friends Joseph & Isabel Ettedgui have just opened on Elizabeth Street – surrounded by family and friends. Lunch finished at 8.30pm! It was a really wonderful, memorable day.”
