Everyone’s favourite British spinster is back – and well up the duff – in the third outing of the Bridget Jones franchise.
Renée Zellweger has returned to reprise her role as the iconic 21st Century Jane Austin heroine in Bridget Jones’s Baby, which – like basically all rom-com sequels – taints the perfection of the original film’s romantic plot arc by reminding us that Happily Ever Afters don’t actually happen IRL.
Nope, in our first look at the third film we see Bridget reunited with her trademark spinsterhood, All By Myseeeeeeeeelf as ever and up to her endearingly awkward and Bridgety shenanigans.
And also like most comedy sequels, Bridget Jones’s Baby reacquaints us with a familiar plot device, aka Ms. Jones being torn between two love interests.
The first of which is the familiar face of her ex, Mr. Darcy i.e. perennial dreamboat Colin Firth. But this time around Hugh Grant is MIA, replaced by McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey.
Plus, there’s a baby bump involved.
Ooooh – and a cameo by Ed Sheeran (perhaps the two are related somehow?).

Definitely an occasion for genuinely tiny knickers.
