Yigal Azrouel’s S/S 2009 collection was all about movement. The fluid silhouettes were so impeccably draped to appear effortless that the models appeared to naturally glide in the loosely fitted, voluminous fabrics as they strutted down the runway.
The most striking pieces of the collection were the high-waisted swimsuits which were utterly sexy-glam (jewelry and swimwear were added to the accessories collection this season), and a bolero accented with laser-cut silk pailettes which made the model look like she has angel wings draped over her shoulders.
The color palette consisted predominantly of muted, washed tones – shell pink, pale blue and a beautiful shade of clay that was perfect given the silhouettes and fluidity of the collection.
The printed garments were less successful as was the footwear which included clunky brown shoes.
As for the other accessories, the bold jewelry were great complements to many of the looks.
The striking final look – a scallop embroidery silk faille dress – was Azrouel cocktail chic-ness at its best.
