THE MODERN GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO WINTER SHOES

Style / Trends
November 20, 2009

For the busy gentleman...

Out of habit, most men end up wearing the same shoes year round.

This causes no problems in your indoor life at the office, or at home.  However, when traveling this holiday season, the best way to keep warm and dry is to start at the bottom with your feet.

Most men need only worry about two things:

1)  Is the sole (not the heel) thicker than 3/4"?

If so, it will protect your extremities from the chilly sidewalks and driveways of the winter months.

And:

2) Can you stand in an inch of water?

Because goodness knows you will, and the second you do, you'll be sorry.  These needn't be embarrassingly intense, or look like something your mother ordered you from Lands' End.  They just need to keep you warm and dry.

These Salvatore Ferragamo master slides will keep you warm...

...but these impractical John Vavartos "Chelsea" boots will keep your poor feet cold.

MAC Penultimate Eyeliner in Black

I wear this rich black eyeliner every day. The pen has a great point to it and at night I just draw it on extra thick for a dramatic looking eye.
