they are almost like tiny jewels ...

cute thread! i always buy buttons at antique stores and thrift stores too. i have a nice collection. I just found out a few months ago too that the chain store 'MICHAELS arts and crafts' sell vintage buttons in bulk from this company that has old stock and takes them off vintage clothes....it's like $5 for a big bag, and often you get sweet little sets and whatnot....definately worth checking out!
