Icon10 The Sketch Improvement Thread

I thought it might be a cool idea to have a thread on sharing our progress in fashion sketches and drawings. It's always fun to look back at your old artwork and see how much progress you have. So, post away your before and after pictures!!!

Could this thread also be used to recommend some sketching technique books? I've found so many on Amazon.com, but I am clueless as to which one I should buy...Is there anyone that can help me? Thanks!

I don't even have a clue where to start with fashion sketches! *blush* Would anyone be able to post tips, or have websites with starting out? Thanks! *blush again*

Also, gorgeous sketches JR1!!

Ooh, I love this thread already. I'm kinda of new to the fashion sketching thing now, so I don't have any after pictures to compare... yet.

Yay! People replied!

I love the sketch, JR1, very professional looking!

I have loads of old sketches and drawings (which I crack up at when I come across) but I don't have a scanner...

^ Well, I was just wondering how to start the body off? Like, is it basically everyone's personal preference, or are there steps?

Thanks so much, and sorry if I'm being a nusance!

Your not a nusance!

Well I think its your personal preference...I usually like to start off with the clothes, then legs, arms, head..etc but sometimes I will do the head first or just quickly sketch the whole thing, then add details, but like I said it depends how you feel, because maybe none of them will work or perhaps they all will

Oh, thank you! I think starting out with the clothes first would work well. Usually I'd try doing the body..and the clothes wouldn't look right at all. :S Thank you once again! I'm glad I'm not a nusance.

And jw..your sketches are so gorgeous (as I've said before ) and professional looking..How long have you been drawing sketches? It seems like an awful long time with the results you have. :O
