Lanvin Embroidered Velvet Cape
French, 1922
Of red velvet, above the knee length at front, curving below the knee at back, the abstracted scrollwork pattern embroidered in horizontal bands with silver and gold metallic threads worked in three degrees of density and texture, the faintest a shadow effect created by fine top stitching, wide brown fur band collar, black silk satin lining with horizontal cording.
Very good condition, some darkening of metals and faint darker areas, lining released to effect smooth drape.
The cape is documented in the Lanvin archives and dated March, 1922.

her stuff is too beautiful for words!

and its interesting, i think Lanvin under Alber Elbez is one of the few classic houses to really carry on the aesthetic and idea of the original designer while still modernizing it.
