And no offense to anyone, but if we're going to devalue an entire section, why not the Star Style forum as well?
All I see are posts saying "I love her outfit" or "She looks great."
How is that contributing to fashion?

It's quite scary actually.. there's 140 people in that forum right now, and only 10 people in Personal Style.

It's actually very simple. Forums about fashion or fashion related subjects are the only reason that Fashion Spot exists and therefore they are our main forums.

The Sidewalk Cafe was created to direct off topic conversations away from the fashion forums but to insure that there would always be a place where members could go off topic if they wanted to. It's like a place to take a coffee break and socialize ... hence the name. It's a "bonus" for our members and that means it is a good thing not a "devalued" thing. If we did not see the value in it, it would have been gone a long time ago. It will always be there for those members who like to spend time there ... we have no intentions of taking that away.

To answer your question .... believe it or not, Star Style (look at the name ... "style") is considered a main forum here because it is really is about the fashion celebrities wear. If someone wants to discuss non fashion related issues about celebrities, they can go to Rumour Has It ... an off topic, non fashion fourm in Sidewalk Cafe.

Personal style is NOT part of Sidewalk Cafe and therefore it has nothing to do with this discussion. It is also about fashion/style and it, too, is considered a main forum dedicated to our main purpose here ... fashion.

I'm just happy the H&S posts not showing up will give others the impression I actually have a life.

as a team, we look at those suggestions, discuss them, and determine if it's in the best interest of the community as a whole...

no one ever said we speak for the entire community...
we are just trying to do what's best for the community...
if we put this up for debate, there would have never been a resolution...
and even if there were a vote, there would have been people that were upset by the outcome...
there are always going to be people that object...

finally, no one is saying sidewalk cafe doesn't count, because if we felt that way, this section wouldn't be here...
if you ask me personally, alot of the threads in H&S are useless...
sure, i post in there from time to time, but if the entire section went away, it wouldn't matter to me...
i come to this forum because i want to talk to other people about fashion...
my feeling is there are tons of other forums around if you want to talk about your period, what smilie are you, what are you having for breakfast, etc.
i do understand, however, that it's part of tFS, and that many members go there to take a break, meet and learn more about other members...

you keep repeating that it isn't about post count, yet that's all you keep talking about...
if it doesn't matter, then move on...
your contributions to the forum shouldn't hinge on a number, or the lack thereof...
if there are so many useless threads (and i agree there are) why allow them in the first place?

and im repeating it because i always have the feeling that i have to defend myself because of various posts in this thread (which i already mentioned)

i agree you cant satisfy everyone with a vote either but at least there would have been a vote...not just a decision
because thats what a 'community' is about...

^ No, posts in the Sidewalk Cafe (Heart and Soul, Rumor Has It, the Art of Noise, and the Entertainment Spot) do not count.

quite frankly i am glad!
i just secretely wish my posts in H&S wouldnt show up at all after a day
i go there to decompress and be silly and while i could do it anywhere else i enjoy doing it on tFS as its my other family
i would love the result to be more fashion oriented posts overall... after all that IS really what everyone should be here for

then what's the point?
why have a vote that doesn't count? so you and a few others can feel better?
this is so minor it's ridiculous...i can't believe the reaction to this...
i would have expected this reaction if the entire section was taken away...

I'm glad to see the uproar about it.

Whether it's positive or negative, I'm just happy to see that a lot of members are taking action for or against the post count.

I'm still torn between liking or hating it, but my only question is: when did the post count stop counting? I started noticing only about 4-5 days ago.

Haha wow I didn't even notice the posts had stopped counting in SC until I saw this thread!

Personnally, I think that limiting post count doesn't really matter. I mean, we can still voice our opinions, and I think that's the most important thing. It *is* just a number, people What I like best about the SC is that you can share interests with like-minded individuals (that is, people who are passionnate about fashion in all its forms!), and I don't think the post count is that relevant in such an area. Sorry I'm a bit tired and I think I'm just writing gibberish, but really, it's not that big a deal, and I can understand why the mods decided to do this.

All I'm saying is that as long as we can still post in SC (and that the posts we made don't all get deleted), I'm happy and it's fine with me Cheer up you guys, it's not the end of the world
