^ I'm not sure about the 80x80; it's true, as mangostyle said, that generally avys look better as 160x80. I think it may depend also on that the human sight is a bit "widescreen-like", so anything of the same ratio kinda looks more natural to our eyes (maybe Long John Silver would like 80x80 better... ); but I'm not sure about having a certain amount of them to be included by rule; we could get to see less gorgeous avys beacause of that rule, maybe we can go on posting them as 160x80 or 80x80 as we like, and then if somebody comes and ask "could you turn that in a small avy?", we can provide. What do you all think?

p.s.
GORGEOUS avys, everybody!!! With such great competition, I just can't choose which avys to post!
Hmm yes I think its an good idea!

But mayb still one problem , its a fact that at most times 160x80 looks better and mayb the judgement would choose (not on perpess) rather for the larger avatar because you see more of the sphere?

Thanx all for the reactions and the great avys

Black and white totally reminded me of Bridget Riley's op art, so here's some avi's of her work:

Loss - 1964?

Kiss - 1961

Britannia - 1961

Blaze 4 - 1964

Drift #2 - 1966

Pause - 1964

Composition With Circles - 1998

And my personal favorite:

Movement in Squares - 1961

I really like this idea, there have already been so many great entries. I'm a bit of a novice in the avatar making department, but this is great for the artist in me. Having a set theme to work to is great, kind of like having homework again!

I was in the Devon mood and I also wanted to show my R&B junkie side so here is the result:

I didn't bother to make new ones; I can't believe I had so many black and white avatars I had already made.

Kate Moss

Angelina Jolie

Natalia Vodianova

Natasha Poly

Gemma Ward, Frankie Rayder, Christy Turlington/Naomi Campbell

Errr...I'n not sure anymore that this is the place for random and/or out-of-theme avys... it sems that those still belong to the old thread...

Contest #1 - Theme: Black & White

Took me ages to decide, but finally here's my selection:

p.s.

I'n not sure about the 80x80...is it a rule to include 6 of them in the 15 for the "contest", or it isnt'?
Well, if it IS a rule, then just ignore my last 6 and substitute them with these ones, made from the same pics:
