can you please delete my posts in the "Rosanne Doosje" thread? It's kind of useless info
I made a new thread about her without knowing there was already one
So now the whole story was put into the one which already existed...
thank you

Lucia - it's fine

You're not the first to start a second thread The search function in the menu bar will help you look for existing topics. Thanks for the contribution to supporting cast!!

Yeah, uh ... same problem. I accidentally posted a thread called "Quirks" in the wrong section and now I can't delete it ... Then I posted it again in the correct section (which is Heart & Soul, I believe). Sooo. Yes.

Thanks!

Editing your own post.

Why do we lose this privilege 10-15 minutes after you make the post?
Sometimes I type in a hurry and don't re-read my posts until I revisit the thread later on, and I might have grammar/spelling mistakes which I would like to correct.. it might sound insignificant, but I still think we should be able to edit our posts.
Every other forum I'm a member has an editing option.

Thoughts?

I think that 10 minutes it's enough

It's a matter of continuity. If members can go back and change their posts then a reply to the initial post, that has been altered, can completely loose it's meaning as well as take on a whole other meaning..

I always read my posts even before I initially click the "Post Quick Reply" button. Despite that, sometimes I'll find errors in my writing when I return later to reread the post (like you mentioned), so I do agree that it's a bit irritating. However, I can see why there's a limit to how long you can edit something, because like Hanne said, doing so gives you the chance to drastically change a thread.

^ Good post, seanut

@ fashion_boi - I'd suggest just getting used to utilizing the preview post option. If mistakes are something which bother you, previewing your post and giving it a quick read shouldn't take but a few seconds.

Yeah I recommend copying & pasting your post into word to check that it makes sense (especially if it's a long post!).

^I strongly recommend copy+paste as well. partly for spelling but mainly because if you've spent more than 15 minutes on your post and get logged out, chances are you may lose the entire thing. it doesn't always happen but it has happened to me. it's so infuriating to say the least.
and yes, preview post is a good advice too.. the quick reply option is just atrocious for me unless the message is really really short.. I end up having a million mistakes or I just don't like the way it looks and wished I had seen a preview beforehand.

I always read my posts outloud to myself, along with the proofreading I mentioned above. Just a habit I've gained from working on a newspaper and having to edit various articles.
