I clicked on a member's sig, and I discovered there were a 'games at the spot' subforum...and I'm feeling really silly because I can't find it by myself, I looked everywhere and still can't find it
I read the link that supreme posted, and I'm not making an issue of the explanation of maintaining the professional image of tfs. I've never even been to the Games at the Spot forum until just now. But I do find it ironic that members have been using their signatures--which are visible to outsiders--to promote Model Combat, one of tfs' games. The thing is, inquisitive outsiders are able to click on those signature links and be taken to Model Combat and the rest of the Games at the Spot forum. So technically, the Games forum is not completely hidden from outsiders.
On second thought, the whole "hidden" Games forum for members-only is a little unsettling. I appreciate that the Heart & Soul forum is hidden, as it allows for our own privacy, protection and thus a chance to be more intimate and open with one another. However, hiding the Games forum to maintain an image just seems...strange. Like a dirty little secret. Like a shameful addiction. If tfs wants to maintain a professional image, why not work on it from the inside out as well? In a way, keeping that forum around is just encouraging members to continue acting, well, unprofessionally--as in, the opposite of the "professionalism" tfs wants to achieve.
I understand that the decision to keep the Games forum was a concession, a compromise of sorts. I know that there are many members who enjoy the forum and that to completely shut down that forum would be quite disappointing. I just wanted to express my opinion.

Well that's one way of looking at it dreamecho ..
Another is that the users of the games sub forum were small in numbers.. but posted so frequently in the games threads that they 'flooded' the 'New Posts' so much that the dominance of those threads on the first page of 'New Posts' were an annoyance to the majority of the membership.
