Tess might it be that you are trying to load 88x88 the max. size before the new software ?..now the max size is 80x80 with a limited 100 KB size as well.
Profile pic has been reduced to 200x200 instead of 250x250 with a limited 200 KB size and signature pictures aren't allowed as far as I can tell.

You can have a 160 x 80 avatar if you upgrade to a premier account.
The cost is $20.00 per year.

If you have photo editing software, like Photo Shop, or some of those that come with your digital cameras, you can resize them easily, following their instructions. If you don't ... some of our members volunteer to create the right size avatars for you, with pictures you supply. See this thread... Avatar Factory.

You must have a Premier Membership which is $20 a year. You will notice that there are some of us who have larger avatars and most people who have small ones ... that is why.

There is a link to pay for an upgrade in your UserCP, on the left under Miscellaneous, called Account Upgrades, if you are interested.

And here is the thread about it: Paying tFS for upgraded / premium "Premier Account"
