Good topic, Papa! I totally agree!! Many people don't think when they create thread titles and just put down thier first thought ... as if they were speaking to friends. But it certainly doesn't help a bit when you are looking or seaching for a certain topic.
When I know that a couple of threads are about the same subject, I sometimes merge them ... but if both threads have been running at the same time, sometimes it's not a good idea to merge if the conversations get intermingled and would no longer make sense. I also change a lot of thread names when those non-helpful thread titles pop up. But in the really busy forums, it's hard to keep up .. there's other issues that mods are dealing with ... so it doesn't always get changed.
If you see a couple of threads that you think could be merged sucessfully or should be re-named, feel free to report them to a mod who can make the changes, if appropriate.
Tips for starting new threads:
First and foremost,
do a search to make sure that there in not already an ongoing thread.
Next, check the top of the forum for any pinned threads which sometimes contain specific rules for posting and/or starting new threads. Some forums, like Behind the Lens, Designers & Collections and Magazines, have a specific format that should be followed.
Then ... before starting that thread, think about what the title you are going to give it. Would you be able to use the search function and find it? Can you tell from looking at the title, what the thread is about?
