What Happened to a Thread I Started ... Was it Deleted?

I just spent about 30 minutes looking for a thread I started to see if there were any responses. Then I realized it had been merged.

Is there any way we can receive a friendly notification if our threads have been merged or deleted so we don't have to search for them and wonder where they might've gone?

We do have a new system in place to advise members if a post has been deleted and the reason it was deleted, as a reminder of the Community Rules. But it does not work for merging threads. Sometimes, if the mod has extra time you might get a PM ... but we can't do that on all merges because it's very time consuming. Sorry.

To avoid this problem and to adhere to the Communtiy Rules, please, do an advanced search before you start a thread, to ensure that there is not already an ongoing thread on the same topic. We have to spend quite a bit of time cleaning and merging threads, when members have not taken the time to do this.

Before posting, please consider the following:

1. Before starting a new thread, take a look ensure that there is not already a pre-existing thread discussing the same matter. Mod Team Leaders and Moderators of tFS have the right to delete or merge duplicate threads. If starting a new thread, please post a title that accurately reflects the contents and information within the thread so that members are not misled.

If you cannot find a thread or post of yours, then all you need to do is click on your username and choose 'find more posts by x'. Since it will show up there regardless of where it may now be located.
