Armpit hair: gross or sexy?

Ok, I always thought arm pit hair, especially on girls is ueber-gross and it's a total crime even to have a little fizzle. But during past week, for some obscure coincidance I saw couple of gorgeous, fashionable women in tanktops who had unshaven armpit hair! Not like a whole bush, but still grown and visible. And I caught myself thinking, it actually looks alright... Am I crazy? Or I we just brainwashed to think body hair is disgusting?

I like armpit hair, esp on men (it's kinda sexy) but also on women. It looks less naked and more natural, somehow. And have anyone else noticed that armpit hair is very soft? Mine is, anyway

Personally, I feel more hygenic when I don't have the stuff, but I wouldn't automatically think a lady's gross because she's got pit hair.

I, personally, think it's extremely and always gross on women, but maybe I'm biased because I've seen some women with LOTS of it and that really scarred me for life.

I don't know really. I've seen some women with really soft almost baby-like armpit hair that's kinda cute and surprisingly feminine. Also my sister looks kinda good with it too, the "Who gives a crap" school of thought which can be so endearing. Personally I find it makes me smell more easily and I have quite coarse armpit hair so I'd give it a miss - but I don't think it's automatically unattractive.

well of course....
i mean "brainwashed" might not be the right term...(or is it?)....
but all our conceptions of "beauty" are learned....they are social and cultural norms.....do you really think there is something INHERENTLY ugly or disgusting about body hair?....of course not....we are taught that on women, in certain areas it is ok, and in certain areas it isn't.....and that on men, it is far more acceptable in far more places.....
you aren't BORN with that idea....

....

there really is nothing disgusting about it....
it is there for a reason, and no matter how much we all wax or shave or laser it off, it tries to come back for a reason...
many men (and women) found sofia loren sexy with underarm hair....
and i'm sure in many cultures and throughout many ages it has been acceptable, if not beautiful....
unfortunately we don't live in one of those cultures....and people, for some reason, think of it as "dirty" or "gross", which is absolutely silly imo...

revolting on men, worse on women!

all the men i know MUST trim it (not shave) to the shortest!

it is not only gross, it is proven medically to be very unhygienic!

thank god the days are gone when i used to live in germany and was confronted with it on a daily basis

I absolutely do not mind it on women. I also don't mind women who choose not to shave their legs--it looks especially ok on ladies who have never shaved or waxed and then stopped (the hair comes out soft). Heh, I also don't mind light hair on the upper lip or connecting brows.

I think if the hair isn't out of control and then light/thin/soft versus really thick and corse it's a-ok on a lady.

Re: Sexiness of Armpit Hair
Can't say I find armpit hair itself sexy, but I tend to notice women who don't shave and aren't ashamed about it (read: confident) sexy. Also, a man who shaves his armpits is really unattractive imo... i guess that's where i'm "brainwashed"... and to be perfectly honest few things on a younger man are sexier than the cute thin line of hair from his belly button down to his...y'know...but please wax elsewhere (back and butt cheeks).

ditto.
A female teacher of mine had really thick, black arm pit hair and in the summer you could see her sweat almost dropping, so gross!

i haven't shaved under my arms since i was in jr. high. i do trim it up a little, plus my hair is pretty fine.

although i do shave my legs, i feel like women have so many points of attention on their body (watch for cracked heels! manicure nails! pluck eyebrows! wax pubes!) that one moment of resistance is a relief, almost essential.
