bare skin at night

I'm trying to figure out if it's really necessary to sleep with moisturizer on because I do and when I wake up, my skin is usually really oily.

I can't figure out if this is what is making me break out. I mean my skin is really soft with the moisturizer, but I slept one night without, and it looked as if my face had cleared up. So maybe applying moisturizer in the day and night is too much for my skin???

Dr Hauschka (organic skincare line) believes that you shouldnt apply anything to the skin at night because this is when the skin detoxifies, and its necessary to have bare skin. Give it a go- you can always go back to moisturising if it doesnt work out!

i've stopped moisturising at night, and it has stopped my skin breaking out as much. i do moisturise around my eyes though as they can get really dry.

I think I'll try this... I've been having little breakouts lately and I can't figure out why.

i think it depends on the person, an older individual would probably benefit more from a moisturizer since their skin is drier. but i'm in my 20s and i need to moisturize at night, otherwise, my skin will feel dry when i wake up.

dsq: maybe that happens because your cleansing product is too harsh.

At 20, your skin shouldnīt feel that dry without moisturizer, unless you get a lot of cold weather.

I donīt usually moisturize at night, but from what i read, if you want to moisturize, you should use your day cream (only if it doesnīt have any spf, otherwise it will be too much for your skin to process, and since you donīt need spf at night, it will only damage the skin).
So no need for night creams.

I like not moisturizing at night and iīve been doing this for years.

Thanks for the advice. It's not really a big problem for me, I'm neither too dry (unless it's a harsh winter) and it doesn't cause me to break out, but I'm big on starting early to protect my skin, I'm 21 now. Maybe I'll leave the night moisturizers until later...

I usually like to put moisturiser on my face before I go to sleep but lately I haven't done it and my skin looks less glowing.

I'm trying it, although I do notice that my skin seems a bit dull, but I do prefer that to breaking out. And I do like going to sleep without, just my bare skin on my pillow feels so good! So I'll see how it goes.

I put on a pore refining essence that is like a mask that you wash off in the morning but it's not really a moisteriser. I find that moisterising is a little too much for my skin....

Eye cream is ok though....

Maybe you need to try something different during the day, if your skill looks and feels a little dull?
There are lots on the market that add glow...

I sleep with moistuizer on because if I don't I wake up with flakes, even in the oily parts of my face and that is wierd looking. Oil and flakes at once. Eww......

However, if your skin doesn't need it, don't bother. If you use a lotion in the morning w/ SPF for protection and moisture, you should be fine. That is my new motto! If you don't need it, don't use it.

That's insane! You can get dry skin at any age, it's not reserved for the over 50's you know!!
