Bronzing lotions for African American women?

After hearing about a few people in person mention to me that they had success using bronzing lotions, I'd like to know more about these...

What brands have you used and what were your results? How long did the color last and did you have any issues with the smell?

I'm an African American woman who is medium/brown skinned (similar to Nia Long's complexion). I could really use some recommendations with summer being right around the corner...

TIA!

trust me, it ain't sayin "INTENSE" for nothin. maybe one application won't be enough for you if you wanna go DARK. i used this one two days in a row and lemme tell ya. EVERYONE thought i looked like i've spent the past week lying in the sun and doing nothing else. i'm a medium skinned asian btw.

if anything can make you look a whole lot darker, then this one. try it out at the Clarins counter.

Such as what brands? Can you recommend one that worked for you?

I know Neutrogena has one called Neutrogena Summer Glow Daily Moisturizer...never tried it before though.

My skin is probably a couple shades darker than yours (see: Aisha Tyler, Gabrielle Union), and I've used St. Tropez ... it will you make your skin mega-dark. I don't like the smell though.

Interesting thread. I never tried a bronzer as I always thought it was more for Caucasian skins but I read some (Black) actress or model saying she used some and it made her skin glowy.

I must say with this neverending winter in France, I'd like to try the bronzer or self tanning.

I think I'd rather have the self tanning as the bronzers I saw are often shiny/sparkly.

Thanks for the input.
