Does never smiling prevent crows feet/eye wrinkles?

I look unusually young for my age (30) and I have no wrinkles at all around my eyes. Most of my life I have been told that I never smile, I never even smile in pictures, never smile when talking to guys, never smile to friends. lol I may laugh if something is really funny but I have never been a smiley person at all to the point where people even comment on me to "smile more" (which usually irritates me and makes me want to not smile even more).

I am wondering if it's possible that not smiling is the reason why I don't have wrinkles around my eyes?? I know that a big part of it is genetics and also sunscreen usage (which I usually use everyday), but I'm just wondering what percentage "not smiling" may have contributed to me looking younger?

Is it mainly smiling often which causes crows feet? Thanks

...i'm sorry...i'm not laughing at you...but this is terribly funny...i am actually sitting here SMILING... ....
i have no idea if not smiling is what has led to your un-wrinkled face....but personally i've gotta say i would much rather smile and look OLD....

^ ^ I do think smiling can give you a few wrinkles.
However, I smile a lot and people always tell me I look much younger than my age.
So I guess you can smile AND look young...

I agree with adorefaith; I'd rather smile and look old.

In another thread (don't remember which one) someone brought up facial yoga, which - if I remember correctly - involves using all of the facial muscles often to prevent wrinkles.

I'm 33 and don't have a whisper of crows feet, but I think it's due to bone structure and the shape of my cheeks. But I don't mind the idea, because I see plenty of much older people with them, and it lends them the appearance of having spent their life laughing.

But permanent furrows in your foreheard, that tells a different story, so I try to practice the art of a serene brow. Not that I ever achieve such elusive 'facial zen'.

I try not to unnecessarily smile because I hate my smile so it'd certainly be great if it does prevent wrinkles!

I think other things also help a lot with that but I rather not spend my life not ever smiling or laughing even if it means less lines on my face. I probably should smile more actually since I've been told multiple times I have a nice smile but I'm not the type of person who can smile a lot easily. And a lack of laughter would be even worse. My sister tells me I have a "smiley" face anyway.

i believe the contrary is true, the eye wrinkles and crows feet got from smiling dont make you look old...actually its said smiling alot makes you look younger coz you cant smile and sulk at the same time...and as we all know...sulking and the infamous frown line are close relatives

Having a smile wrinkle actually makes one look more approachable, and that's cute in a good way.

i am going to guess that you have no kids...
because i think that is the biggest cause of wrinkles that there is...
and it's not because they make you smile so much...
