best place to have jacket custom made in NYC?
I decided that instead of buying anything new I am going to spend the money on having one of my own designs custom-made for me. I actually would like to start my own menswear line eventually and have 100s of detailed drawings of pieces I want to make but have little sewing/patternmaking experience (but have taken some classes and am going to take lessons from a tailor) Does anyone know a good tailor who does custom work in the NYC area? I have used Wilfred's Tailor in the past for alterations and they do excellent work (and custom suits). However, since this will be expensive I want to make a design that is unlike anything I could buy in a store, probably something incorporating asymmetry or other unusual detailing. So although Wilfred's is great, I think they are pretty traditional and might have a hard time getting me what I want (I think this because I had them do some alterations once that were VERY simple but kind of unusual, and they TOTALLY screwed it up). I will probably talk to them as they are doing some minor work for me now and will just ask them when I go in to pick up my pieces, but if anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!
