Hazel Eyes...any tips to make green stand out??

Wondering if anyone had any tips for what to use to make the green in hazel eyes stand out...I know this may have been posted before by someone else..but it's a good topic, because most makeup artists suggest green or purple to bring out green...and the problem that I have found is that besides making the look completely unnatural(fun some of the time, but not a daytime look) it brings out the yellow in my eyes and not the green. Any tips would be appreciated.

I have green eyes but there more of a dark green than an really bright green but ever since i started experimenting with colours, i've had so many people come up to me and say "When did you get green eyes?!" Haha..

Line your upper and lower lashlines
Use an angle brush, like MAC 266, and go over the line with a dark grey or black eyeshadow, like MAC Black Tied to soften the line
Finally, use either the angle brush or a q-tip to softly smudge a purple eyeshadow, like MAC Sketch along the line.

I've heard beige and caramel tones bring out green as well, but purple seems to work the best. I know what you mean about it looking totally unnatural though, but paired with a smoky eye it looks great. Hopefully that helps?

if you use auburn or burnt colors-it is its complimentary color-it will make your green eyes stand out. hope that helps

Usually I get told that my eyes look "really green" when I line them in a black khol liner (top only-) and then smidge shimmer over it (Smash Box's Smashing Sunrise is my favourite). I also wear lots of mascara.

Thanks for the tips... So far, I've only tried Juicy's recomendation(thanks!!) and yeah... I think it worked, but I ended up with a heavy smokey effect. I definitely liked it tho as far as dramatic eye make up goes. I'm a sucker when it comes to eyeliner, even though I have big eyes I love the look. My only question is, besides purple(as in MAC Sketch, I have MAC Shale which is very similar) wouldn't a grey work as well?

for me purple works. but has to be put on with gray silver shadow as well.

Sweetlove - my eyecolour is pretty much identical to yours! We are two lucky women - I get so many compliments!...

Anyhow, When I use brown tones, I find It really contrasts with the hazel nicely to bring out the green. I use MAC cork...just in the lid crease - and I use MAC shroom on the lid....nothing dramatic or overdone - especially for a day look.

I've been experimenting with goldenhued pinks like MAC Expensive Pink - I like the result also...

Ummm...and NARS' eyeshadow duo in Earth Angel...I like the brown shade it comes with...

Let me know what you've been trying - I love playing up my eyes!

Just use the color that is the opposite in the color chart, so red and pink eyeshadows are great for bringing out the green in your eyes! I have blue-grey eyes and they look really blue with brown eyeshadow. So if you want to bring out the hazel use a blue eyeshadow, yeah you get it

Agreed...try using one of those pot eyeliners with an eyeliner brush in a plummy shade just on the top.

I am a huge MAC fan. To bring out the green in your eyes try Fluidline in Macroviolet or Blitz & Glitz. For shadows for a day look Angelcake & Cork are great for everyday. For a night look try lining your eyes with plumage(a navy color) use Shroom all over the lid and Surreal in the crease.

heyy..im kinda in the same predicament as you...my eyes are dark green,brown, and yellow and i have black hair and olive skin..




what i've found is that make-up tips for green eyes..are more for light, pale green colored eyes...so dont always go by them.. pinkss and lavenders look kinda washyy. i've found that this works really well to make them "pop" more

1)use black eyeliner inside your bottom lid (where the inner pink is)
2)use a dark grey eyeliner/smoke color eyeliner to line your bottom lid (under the lash line) from where the inner radius of your actual eye (iris) ends to the outer edge. you might even want to continue the line a bit..making a little lid look..which has a name but i cant rememebr it.
3) take a sheer, shimmery medium grey eyeshadow and apply it on your entire eye..very lightly..you really only want a slight amount of shimmer.
4) use the smokey/grey eyeliner to draw a thin, steady line on your top lid, as close as the lash line as you can. try to keep the pencil sothat it just barely touches the skin...to keep the liner from being too garish. it helps to stretch your eye outward to do this
5) using your finger, smudge the penicl line lightly across, going outward, but stopping so you dont get a smudge line on the side of your face.

I have a friend who has hazel eyes.. she let me do her make up one day.. I put a shimmery bronze color on her lids and the green immediately popped out.

Purple brushed on the outer third of the upper lid and the eye globe line combined with a salmon pink/apricot on the rest of the lid really works for my blue-green eyes ... the salmon is almost invisible yet it really seals the look and makes it look "unpainted". Maybe could work for you too, and diminish the yellow-issue you mentioned?
