Devotte

Walk This Way

Quote:
Anyone who has broken in a new pair of summer sandals knows the warmer months, while rife with resplendent fashion options, are not so forgiving to the feet. But blisters be damned, there's a new footwear label we've found that seems to truly "get" the, sometimes, crazy obsessive love women feel for shoes. But the best part? They've mercifully added some extra comfort technology in for good measure. New York-based Designer Nancy Kim named her just-launched collection Devotte, as a play on shoes being the most "coveted" items in her closet as well as her friends. According to Kim, good footwear also posed "the biggest challenge," and anyone who's walked ten blocks in a new pair of strappies would agree. What she's come up with is a small but refreshing line of shoes, most of which carry off the signature Devotte heel, which is, according to our experts, just high enough. Kim confirms it was important to her to make comfortable designs her active customers could wear all day, from office to evening with a minimum of agony—all shoes come with a high-tech insole that has anti-shock and slow rebound properties, plus a lifetime guarantee. All this talk of comfort might sound a bit boring, but Devotte shoes are anything but.
One favorite (ironically called the Covet) is a re-interpretation of a retro sandal, but with craftsman-style whip-stitching and a chic stacked cone heel, it has an exceedingly modern feel. The Ceremony (named for the New Order song) is a charming flat sandal in emerald leather accented with gold studs, just right for Madison Avenue or the beach at Montauk. Stay tuned for an exclusive shoe collaboration between Devotte and fave L.A. boutique Satine.
Devotte shoes are available in New York at Jumelle (148 Bedford Avenue, 718-388-9525), in Los Angeles at American Rag and also at www.shopbop.com. For more information, go to www.devotte.com.
