in my opinion, anything silver. my dress for a dance/formal thing is pink, its short, bcbg, and its really cute and i'm wearing silver strappy shoes that are actually a size too small, but they didnt have a size bigger, and so i just got those and so my feet r gonna kill @ the end of the night.

Again I must say thank you to all of you for your great ideas!!!!!

I think great minds must really think alike. I too thought pink might be a little much... As for teal (I'm not really a fan of teal in general). I love yellow and considered getting those pink/plastic Louboutins in yellow... But then there is the issue of the second champagne pink coloured dress. As much as I would love to buy 2 pair of fantastic (and expensive shoes) I can't afford it right now (I bought a house)....

So that's why I'm thinking more along the lines of silver. Classic and not that "funky", I know.... but practical.. well as practical as a pair of silver $800 shoes get... lol....

Right now I really think I'm going to buy those silver Manolos, despite them costing the same amount as a couch I want to buy.... (in Canada things get expensive with exchange and duty, etc)

P.S. Congrats Shoegal! Medicine is such a frustrating, but rewarding career...I am sure you will be sucessful in your medical career of choice.

I'm planning to go as well, but I need to get my act straight first.
Thank you so much! I'm really excited to start! Looks like a minimum of 6 years of training left though...

Medicine is a great field (for the most part). If it's what you want to do, I say go for it!!!!!!!!!! It's really not hard, just time consuming.

Hello girls. I need your help selecting some very special ball gowns and shoes.

Here in Southern California a local society is trying to provide several gowns and shoes for military wives for the upcoming Navy and Marine Holiday Balls. The company where I work has decided to contribute gowns and shoes for this very worthwhile cause but of course we first have to select and purchase them.

We have received a survey from the local society listing some criteria (pretty official word, huh?) when choosing these gowns/shoes. They are

-Please keep on mind that most of the women are in good to excellent
physical shape
-Average age is between 20 and 28
-Dress size is between 4 and 9
-Shoe size is between 5 and 8
-Closed toe shoe styles are preferred
-Preferred heel height is between 3 and 5 inches

(I didn't write this "criteria" I'm just letting you know what they sent us)

Please help by posting any photos/descriptions of styles you like along with the web address of where to get them.

Thank you so much for all your help. I know you will post some beautiful suggestions.

I love these shoes by stuart weitzman @ Saks. They are a bit pricey though.

what kind of stuff are we allowed to post? can we post runway fashions or do we need to be realistic with prices? that the only reason i ever mentioned bluefly or nordstrom.

Some of the suggestions in this otherformal occasion shopping thread might be useful.

I'm a big advocate of talbots.com They have some nice middle-price dresses and the quality and materials are good.

As long as you don't rub cracked heel cream into the heels of these shoes try Steve Maddens or Manalo Blahniks... For nice stuff... and what the sweetness suggested nordstom and bluefly is really good too...
