Spring-O-Lators

quite possibly one of the greatest inventions of all time... it's a shame that spring-o-lator shoes, for the most part, are not even made anymore (but i know terry de havilland still does them).

Quote:
As backless high-heel shoes were slowly moving out of the bedroom and the boudoir and onto the street, ladies were complaining that they were difficult to keep on. In response to this problem, Fashion Designer Beth Levine created the Spring-O-Lator. This shoe features an elastic insole that is designed to create tension between the shoe and the bottom of the foot and stay on a woman's foot.

Dior had Spring O Lators on the "Trailer Park" collection, all of his backless shoes w/ the Dior logo and flower print, had this feature in them...

C. Madelines, a vintage designer store down here, sells shoes from back in the days, super tiny sizes though, cause women used to have tiny feet..anyway, all of their shoes had Spring O lators in them, and actually, one pair looked very similar to the colored ones that Brian first posted

Not at all - they take up almoast no space in the shoe, and your weight keeps them down as you walk. It just replaces the sling back to keep the shoe on your foot. (Does feel a little weird to have the sole cling to you so tightly!)

I have a pair of vintage ones... in gold leather with a gold pinwheel on top. My most prized vintage possession. I keep them in a glass case in my room and marvel at them all the time.

never seen them in person but such a good idea because I won't even bother with high heeled mules because I know they won't stay on. can you buy spring o laters to put in your shoes?

It would have to be attached to the shoe, not just slipped in, because it actually lifts the back of the shoe up as you walk.
