Years ago it seemed like Seattle was a breeding ground for Doc's. I still have mine and they're just about 10 yrs old now....They're my "work shoes." Fashion though? Maybe if punk comes back...but I think I'll pass on that.

i like the idea of wearing Docs in a non-punk way, like mixing them with lace items and make crazy matches..

can't see them being fun while worn in a 'predictable way'

Not sure about this... I think it's just a bit too chunky for me personally..

Would love to see some pictures of how you guys wear yours.

Haven't worn mine in years...
Still have 'em though...
Hmmm...
I had/have a monk strap pair with a square toe (black), a zippered boot (black), a penny loafer (black), and a pair of those ubiquitous brown lace-ups...

The boots are good for riding, that's really it...
I find 'em all to be far too bulky now...

I have a pair of Mary Jane-ish Docs, but with three buckled straps instead of one. Big grommets on the straps, so not overly cute. I like to wear them with my work pants. With a more straight-laced outfit, in general actually. Makes the outfit slightly cooler. Also, the sad thing is, this is the shoe with the highest heel that I wear on a somewhat daily basis, so it allows me to wear those pants without dragging them on the floor. Man, those soles are clunky though.

In addition, I found a pair of Dr M sneakers the other day at Goodwill. Much more toned down than the combat boots of yesteryear. It's a spiffier version of old school sneakers.

i am also really paying attention to docs lately... i was never into them back when they were all the rage before, but lilith showed them at her show here and i think i fell in love. i can really see myself wearing them this ...hopefully a modernized design of them though

i too have been seeing people popping up in them around the LA area.

they usually where them with mini dresses, bu t it doesn't look punk or goth at all.

I've always liked the look of them although I've never owned a pair.

I live in Portland, and I see them quite a bit, but I also see the punk look quite a bit here as well.

I actually have a pair that are black and white newspaper print. After reading this thread, I'm totally tempted to break them out and wear 'em today!

i like them a lot. i've been buying a lot of grungey clothing for fall recently, i think doc martens would work well with this look.

the sixth picture in post 28 is awesdome, i love her contrast of sophisticated elegance with the usually clunky doc martens.
