I've been expecting these to come back for a while...I mean the last time they were fashionable was the mid-90s - centuries ago in fashion terms, so the timing is right.
I've got three pairs from my early teen years - black 8-eyes, apple green 8-eyes

, and black 20-eyes (i.e. knee-length). I do love the idea of wearing them with something completely unexpected...like wearing them with long full layered wool skirts in soft neutral colours. I don't like the heavy goth/metal connotation though...docs are perhaps one of the most strongly stereotyped shoe around. I'd like the burgeoning trend to be more focused on the early 20th century utilitarianism of the style.
but to be honest I find them SO uncomfortable to wear. I never completely broke mine in. the way they shape around my ankle is awkward and I always got terrible blisters from mine.
