Yesterday, Topshop printed this message on their website: " leather-clad stovepipe legs are the only way your pins should be dressed."
Naturally, this was because their Unique line came out today with its skinny leather trousers...

topshop

I logged on at 11am this morning to have a look at the £150 leather leggings... and they were sold out!

Oh the power of word!

Everything I like on the Topshop website always sells out super fast. I logged in even before 11 am this morning only to see that they already sold out. I heard that they only had 5 of each size which I don't understand as it's a high in demand item.

^ The unique line typically doesn't have high stock since they don't sell so fast. The unique and boutique labels are the real fashion stuff at topshop. It's not high street, which is really what most the topshop shopper are looking for.

It's a surprise those leather trousers sold so quickly. However, I personally don't think they're that sh*t hot. They've obviously elongated the leg in the website picture to make them look more flattering. The zip at the back is cool, but other than that... well, for £150 you could probably find a cooler pair of skinny leathers.

You might be right that they are probably not the best pair out there but the problem is that I can't find anything even close to that style where I live.

I just bought this AA pair today, the High Waisted legging in Lame Matte Black ($45):

americanapparelstore.com

but I also tried on this pair, the Shiny Legging in Lame Black ($42):

americanapparelstore.com

Is there a difference between the two besides the high-waist? Which one do you guys have/prefer.

I don't own them but I've seen them at Barneys. They are quite lovely, they are made of several different panels, very soft leather. I did not try them on since they only had a size large at Barneys.

I also tried on leather leggings by Daryl K that were very, very nice and looked fantastic on. The waist runs very small, but the leg part fits true to size, if anyone is interested. I would go for your regular size if you don't have big hips; as long as you can shimmy your way past the hips, they are fabulous:

(darylk.com, available here)

I also tried the Helmut Lang ones. Again, they are true to size, and very very comfortable. They are lined with some sort of slidy fabric so it's very easy to get them on. If Barneys had my size I would definitely have been very tempted to get them. The only thing I didn't like about them was that there is a seam running through them below the knee, but on me, the seam was so low, it was like halfway down my calf! Very odd, the Daryl K ones had a seam as well but it fell at a good place on my leg. I feel like you need to be quite tall for the Helmut Lang ones to look right in terms of that seam, but otherwise, they are great leather skinnies:

(shopbop.com)

I for one managed to snag these Balenciaga leather pants, but they might be too small, so we'll see. Size 36 in Balenciaga is hit or miss for me. They cost about as much as the Helmut Lang ones, which I thought was a good deal for Balenciaga leather pants. I haven't had much luck with clothing this year, so my budget for fall items is actually pretty good since I didn't buy a lot this spring/summer:

If they fit, I'll post pics!

I'm 5'9" and I've had a hard time finding a pair that are long enough to bunch a bit at the ankle.

^^ jessie, try the Helmut Lang ones, I bet the shopbop model is on the taller side, and they bunch up. they're very nice, and under $1k. actually, i'm not sure the row ones would be long enough for you, the daryl k ones definitely will be too short. (or keep checking the topshop site to see if they restock the those leather leggings, those look pretty long as well)
