The Statement Necklace S/S 09

I've been noticing a lot of attention getting big statement necklaces on the S/S 09 runways.......

some examples:

I wish I could say I love this as much as I did last season.

These seem more girly, crafty...kind of like the stuff young women love to pile on with a cute dress, and that's fine. But I think last season with all of that diamante and poilshed metal was just so much more elegant.

Bottega showed some as well...

Wonderful. Especially the snake necklaces at issa... they're not too similar but they remind me of María Félix and her collection of Cartier reptile jewelery, and that's definitely a good thing.

just about every look was finished off with a statement necklace (and in many cases there were some statement earrings as well)
