Crediting and Resizing Images

  • Crediting Images
We seemed to have forgotten this for a while, and I would like to bring it up. so heres a little reminder:
When posting images, please note this...

    Quote:
Please remember to provide the source for an image or news story you share with us here. Journalists and photographers deserve credit for their work, just as those who take the time to scan in images from magazines or newspapers do. We want to continue to enjoy news stories and images and do not want people/company/websites upset with us and therefore prohibiting us from doing so.
    from Community Rules

Its very simple, all you need to do is copy and paste the source.
  • Resizing Images
Please consider that not all of us have a high internet connection, and that large images take a long while to load for those who have dial-up.
When posting an very large image please post it as an attatchment.

    To attatch an image,
    1. Save the image that you want to post on your computer.
    2. When replying, scroll down and click "Manage Attatchments" and attatch the image that you wanted to post.
Photos that appear to have no credit and photos that are extremely large will be edited from now on.

Thats all! Thank you!

*** Edited to add: Effective Jan, 2, 2008 we have been put on notice that images taken from ISIFA are posted in violation of owner's copyrights. Please do not post any pictures from the ISIFA site. ****

I guess this means I should stop posting HQs? I can't really post the source since it's not like they're legit. I could post the photographer credit though.

I've been posting her for about 2 months I guess and only a couple days ago I first was told of this. I'll post the source whenever I know but lots of times I just get pics off of other forums and other people's posts.

I think its because alot of people have forgotten, or don't read the posting guidelines or just have ignored it the whole time. Hey, even I've forgotten about this rule a whole lot... The mod team has thought that its about time we keep things right.
I'm not sure about the HQ deal, but I'll look into it. Thanks guys

Hi! here's a question from a " sometimes ignorant, when posting pictures" girl :

The only way to post big pictures is through the "Attachment manager" (AM)? Can't I use ImageShack?

The reason I'm asking this is that I tried to use it just now, because the AM wasn't allowing the size of the images I had (they were images with text so I had to get them a little bigger so that we could read them), and when I clicked in the "insert image" button, and inserted the imageshack link, nothing happened.

Hope you can help me

Yes, many people forget that browse an image at home computer and thru internet is a different things. If somebody has a not good connection - it's takes a lot of time to browse such pages.
Also, this is not good for server, when pages has so big size.

People, just use Photoshop to resize peactures!
And i think it would be good to add a reminder about peacture size, when people upload it.

Some of us have run out of attachment space because we post so many pictures for the forum. I think as a way to help this along we should let these posters have more attachment space. It was a lot more easier when I could attach my pictures instead of using supload or another site.

I tried to do this but it doesn't work... maybe it's my computer.
I will try to use just small pics.

your pics probably go down in a line because you are pushing "return/enter" after posting the image codes... to have the images next to each other either just press the space key or post the next image code right after with no space. you can also press "preview post" to adjust the way the images are shown on the page

if you have any more questions fell free to PM me, I might be able to give you a more specific or coherent answer
