Which image hosting site do you recommend?

i was thinking of getting a paid account at smugmug or pbase. Fotopic has high compression with any pic uploaded.

What is the pro and con of pbase/smugmug?
any other image hosting site to reccommend?

yeah, i use imageshack a lot too. Also photobucket. But they don't have a gallery feature and can't track the traffic.

I know that if you hotlink from pbase (payed account or otherwise, if they still have free acounts) that they are VERY strict about bandwidth regulations. a few people I know have had their galleries temporarily taken down because a forum they post their images on has very very high traffic...just a warning because from what I can tell, tFS has a LOT of lurkers that drive up bandwidth. I think smugmug is the same.

Im not really a huge fan of either, and have not signed up for one. I use deviant art which is really not a great solution, but its -ok- for me for the time being, may not be for you?

if you have an apple, I would suggest using .mac, the storage capactity is high, and its visually more pleasing, users have more options for customizing I believe. plus its not just image hosting, its a virtual hard drive, info and news, a whole network really...comes with email as well.

if you own a pc, I believe msn has something similar.

just remember to read user agreements, I have heard reports of msn 'owning' a person's photographs if they post them on certain sites/in certain programs, but dont know if this is just an internet-bred rumor or truth

let me know if you find any other options because I am still looking for one myself!

The better way to go is to look into your own web hosting account. For about $5/mo you get a fairly large storage space with generous bandwidth, and your own email address(es). Plus you can set up your own website that you can use as a portfolio to direct friends, agents or clients to.

Many such accounts can also be set up with galleries.

And yes they include traffic logs and other webstats.

I use photobucket, but bandwidth is a bit easy to exceed

I have 350 pics on my photobucket account... 18 pages...

I think photobucket is very good, so I'd def. recommend it. Imageshack is also great.

Best image hosting websites

With all the pictures on TFS, like scans and photos and much more. Which image hosting websites do you like the best, and which ones do you think works the best? I am looking for something like tinypic, imagevenue, supload, etc. that can download large image files fast and easy.

Thank you
