I just found it entertaining. It's good that people make "statements" like this. One doesn't have to agree with them--else we're all in our little Mao suits--but the high cost and fickleness of fashion will produce reactions such as this. I really love fashion--on other people!--but I'm aware it's just a wrapper. Rather than approaching it as yet-another tired "feminist" issue, perhaps this particular fashion statement could be framed as a question of identity as just a human being, rather than a female being.
Speaking of Alaia, doesn't the designer himself live in black Chinese silk pyjamas?
