I'm no fan of the patches on clothing, but he's used them quite a bit- especially in the Raf by Raf line's first season and some of his older mainline collections (f/w 05, probably that collection with the Bauhaus/New Order prints, the KOLLAPS collection, etc.). They're primarily used on totes and sweatshirts, but they also make appearances on blazers and outerwear.

I might like you if you look like you could be a character in a Bresson film.
meg,you and i are concurrent in that sense. i don't like backpacks either(somehow,it reminds me of the nightmare that was high school)but i love all of these. funny thing about this is,i did actually carry an eastpak bag in school....but nothing like the coolness of these. but i'd definitely get that duffle, which i prefer to carry these days.

actually chess, remember that collection from spring 01 or 02.....the one with the hoods and the militant masks.....he had patches in that one. and as visconti said,he also does alot of patching in his RAF line as well. so it is very raf, imo.

i just noticed my backpack is Eastpak..
It's the most comfortable backpack I've ever had
There's very thick cushioning on the back and on the wide straps
Maybe Raf's will be like this
must say i'm very interested. though this isn't the type of thing i can just see pictures of and want to buy it like his pants or shirts. i actually need and want to try these backpacks on.

Raf Simons has climbed high up on the fashion ladder, drawing critical acclaim and a cult following for his signature men’s line and for his work at Jil Sander. But that doesn’t mean that he’s above a little low-end action. Simons began working with Eastpak three seasons ago, presenting oversize backpacks during his spring 2008 show. (They turned out to be some of the strongest accessories of the men’s collections.) During the recent Eastpak show at Berlin Fashion Week, the company unveiled Simons’s vision for spring 2009: silver leather-accented mesh, denim and canvas totes, messenger bags and carryalls that reflect his love for exaggerated proportions and linear silhouettes. Despite the profusion of high-end designers doing capsule collections for mass-market brands, Simons stands out for his commitment to progressive design principles. The new Eastpak line ranges from about 208 to 506 dollars, and will be available at stores like Barneys New York, Dover Street Market in London and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.
