I wish she would grow up a bit and develop a bit of elegance....I guess she would be compared to her dad even more....but he really has something so romantic and beautiful that she misses..... and I find a lot of her work quite fugly. If she were to refine things a little I think her work would look a lot more accomplished. sorry guys...I know a lot of you are fans.....
^ I agree w/ you, Helena...
I think it has a lot to do with her presentations...
Sure, they are fun, but sometimes I feel like she's targeting a 13 year-old, angst ridden girl as opposed to a grown woman...
Alone, the pieces are very elegant, imo... esp. if the person wearing them has a certain
style/grace about them...
I know she abhors any comparisons to Yohji...
But his shows touch you at the core... it goes far beyond the clothes themselves...
Limi is still a bit superficial, I guess... but she's doing good work and has plenty of time to refine her aesthetic and p.o.v...
So far, the picture in post 6 is the only one that has engaged me...
Everything else is typical Limi.. though very fun and cool...

I don't think her style should be attributed to immaturity or that she's aiming for a younger woman, at all. I am a "grown woman" and wear her clothes often, and they go perfectly well with the rest of the brands I like to wear.
I don't think she should be compared to her father - it's not fair, as theyre apples and oranges. Her work holds much merit on it's own... she just has a complete different vision than most, including Yohji.
Maybe her models and styling are funky but the garments are thoughtful, unique and well constructed. It is not elegant or romantic clothing, sure... but I don't think that means it is immature at all.
i don't feel her work is elegant at all i don't think her intentions are to be romantic, or like her father--her clothes seem very much her own in that young and rebellious way--there's a certain rawness to it and it's very street oriented, i think...
^^^ yes I agree - a friend of mine (wink) has quite a few pieces and they are all lovely so maybe it is her sort-of rebellion against her dad to present in such an immature way. I really hate the teddy boy thing she always does......
^^ it does tend to look a little bit emo....when she shows, that is....rather than actually.
^^^ I am terribly sorry, I don't in any way mean to be disrespectful of what she does....
I guess I find that, in her shows, she references a lot of themes that slightly rebellious teenage girls cling to - teddy boy, brothel creepers, lolita, cutsey-punk, new romatic, child-woman - and I find all that really quite tiresome and most girls tend to grow out of this by their twenties......yes there is this element in Comme collections (in respect of which I also find this fairly tiresome) - but I tend not to like that either and whenever I buy Comme I will certainly not be wearing it with doc boots!!!
Hope that explains the 'immature' comment adequately....
