Marc Jacobs Resort 2009

Marc Jacobs took the motif to fanciful new heights for his resort collection, showcasing hearts on everything from embroidered gowns to loose pants.

Victoria Beckham must be trying to down herself in Mark Jacobs.
There was a picture of her with kind of a black version of the first dress in the third post.
She also had the shoes with the heart detail that looked painfully high.

Egads! The heart motif I can handle and the shoes are stunning, but the 30s 80s thing I cannot grasp.

somthing went very wrong with 80 percent of these garments. the shoes and accessories are quite strong for a resort collection though.

from style.com:

Quote:
"Unfortunately, it's extremely timely," Marc Jacobs said of his Yves Saint Laurent-inflected Resort collection. Nods to the master were evident in the piped robe-style pieces—offered in a deep, exotic palette of magenta, green, and royal blue—as well as in the outsize heart necklaces. (There were heart prints and appliqués, too: For resort, Jacobs is clearly a lover, not a fighter.) The collection wasn't an homage per se, as everything was filtered through Jacobs' sensibility, which is ever on the pulse and not without humor. "If Yves Saint Laurent designed Escada, it might look like this," he joked.

– Laird Borrelli-Persson
i'm not a fan of the pants, but the dresses, skirts and tops are really nice...
love the color palette, very saturated and reminiscent of ysl...

the last few pieces remind me of pilati's s/s 07 collection...

I see a lot of ysl there, but I like it very much, in general, except for those little hearts garments.

The clothes just look somewhat cheap to me, but the accessories are very nice.

I do sort of like the first dress in post #3 ,but that's about it.
