Britney, Leo 'Cruel' to Autograph Hounds

When it comes to handing out their John Hancocks, Britney Spears and Leonardo DiCaprio are among the worst practitioners in the business – or so says the California-based Autograph Collector magazine in its 13th annual survey of "who's cool and who's 'cruel'" to autograph seekers.



Britney's distinction of "Worst Celebrity Signer of the Year" was earned because "no one is better at showing their fans how little they mean to them," says Autograph Collector publisher Steve Cyrkin, who adds: "As one collector told us, 'Britney has done all she can to earn her nickname, Bitchney Sneers.'"

As for the Oscar-nominee from The Aviator, who shot to fame thanks to his waterlogged 1997 mega-hit, requests for Leo's autograph "will likely sink in Titanic fashion," the magazine says. Cypher also reveals that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were stingy in the autograph department long before their split earlier this month.

Conversely, says Cyrkin, "Johnny Depp is our Best Celebrity Signer of the Year. He never says 'No' to autograph seekers, (and) one collector told us, 'He'll sign for everyone, and it doesn't matter how many things you ask him to sign.'"

As for how celebrities rank in terms of fan generosity – or parsimony – the list breaks down as follows:

leo dicaprio does not look well in that picture. he was so cute in gilbert grape & now it appears all the rumours of his hardcore partying are true.

I have never met paris but a good friend of mine has & said she was sweet. It may depend on who is approaching her, or her mood.

I was amazed to see Tom Cruise at a nightclub last fall when he was filming with Spielberg in Jersey. Even though he had a huge bodyguard with him he was still hanging out & walking around like he enjoyed being out. this event was geared more to the alternative lifestyle crowd.

Although, I can understand why some of those celebs withhold autographs...A lot of people pose as fans to get autographs and then sell them off...

I wish people shoved pictures of me and pens in my face in mass groups. Its nice to sign for a fan, its another thing when some fat guy is going to go sell it on ebay or something. There are two sides to this.

Well when you are MEGA big star like Britney...it's hard making sure all your fans happy...with everyone in your face, shoving and screaming and harrassing you.....

Like SCBlondie saids, there's always two sides to everything.

Yeah, but note, they've been celebrities for so long and there was such fervor over them (particularly when they turned 18) that I'd completely understand if they snubbed people - the money gotten for getting their autographs would be QUITE a lot.

I agree that there are two sides to every story but I suppose you could take the time politely decline to sign autographs. One doesn't have to be rude about it.

Britney spears is so un-unique its impossible to tell her apart from every other loser girl with fat legs and blonde hair. As are the Oslen twins who look very much like every 15 year old in California

That's a horrible picture of Britney, but can't say I feel too sorry for her. Halle Berry surprised me by being on the worst. How do they determine this too btw? I mean by simply the number of autographs or the demand and do ratio? Because some of the stars on the worst list aren't out and about every night(with exception of Paris Hilton) so maybe they have less opportunities. Granted, Johnny depp doesn't club hop either. I'm just curious as to how they come up with the numbers.
