After extensively checking out papparazi pics of numerous stars, I have noticed that quite many of them don't have a license plate, just the standard blank one put in there stating the name of the dealership where they got their vehicle from.
I'm not talking about pics where the license has been blurred out; I do understand that is done for privacy reasons. I am referring to photos where you can clearly see that they do not have a license plate present.
I read that one possibility why a celeb might do this because they don't want to be stalked? I wonder what happen though if a celeb who is not well known, like a D-list celeb, gets pulled over by a cop and the cop doesn't even recognize who the celeb is?? Would the low-level celeb get a ticket or would they have to explain to the cop that they don't have one for privacy concerns even though they aren't super well known?
I just wonder how that all works... Do the celebs managers advise them not to put a real license on their plates, or do they just think of this themselves??
I was following the pack all swallowed in their coats with scarves of red tied ’round their throats to keep their little heads from fallin’ in the snow and I turned ’round and there you go and, Michael, you would fall and turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime..

^ It's "the law" and it's required all registered vehicle owners living in the US to have plates. New vehicles in the US will have advertisment such as the name of the dealership they bought the vehicle from on both ends of the vehicle, or no adevertisment at all. It takes about a month or two to get new plates. So, what I think you probably see and wonder about is just that-- (advertisment or blank plates) These celebrities wait for their new plates just like everyone else who bought a new car. Even the President of the United States have to have plates on his government own cars and even after he leaves the white house his own private car has to have plates. So, why would celebrities have the luxury of not having plates on their car?

I'm talking about Britney Spears for example, she's had her CLK 430 for a VERY long time now and she still has no plates.... It's definitely not a new car, she's had it for way longer than 2-3 months...
Here's a pic for example

I am still trying to find a pic of the front of her car to see if she has a front plate. I don't think she does tho.
And here is one of Reese Witherspoon, not sure if that's a new vehicle or what...
True, but I'm thinking it's quite easy for stalkers to find out where celebs live already without having to know their license plate numbers? I mean tons of paps and fans stalk out Paris' house on a daily basis....
And what if it's a D-list celeb that gets pulled over by a cop and explains to the cop it's because "they are afraid of stalkers" but the cop never heard of the celeb in question? I just wonder what would happen then... Do they have to court and prove they are "somebody" and therefore have the right to not have plates?
Does the law somewhere state that it's ok to not display your plate in fear of stalkers? Or is this something celebs just feel like they can get away with?
Although it may be true that they are protecting themselves from stalkers, that doesn't make it legal from them to not display their license, they might still be violating the law.

In various parts of California we have cameras now in light intersections. Plates play a crucial role in tracking down people who run red lights. Plates are a form of I.D. for the cops. If something looks suspecious a cop can go on their laptop in their car, type in our plate numbers and voila they have our personal information. Not having plates (even if it is a celebrity) doesn't make sense to me. Then again, there is the VIN numbers too. But I think that's more to do with the vehicle itself...not sure though.
I hope this is not the case. Celebrities should not be above the law...and if they are so concerned with stalkers then they should get a limo driver...or a bus pass.
Actually the Reese Witherspoon one is photoshopped. A good way to tell is to look for compression artifacts around the edge of the photoshopped area. You can see it's been blacked out. As far as the Britney one..well it's Britney...
^ LOL, I was just thinking that too. Britney can't barely take care of her kids, let alone herself. She's not responsible in those aspects, so why be repsonsible to put new plates on her car. I bet she has them, she just doesn't care to put them on.
The law in Calif. is that every vehicle must have a front and rear lic. plate. One exception ... if your car is new, it takes about 6 weeks to get your plates from the DMV .... so the dealer places a temp. ID on the winsheild. So this could explain some of the plateless sightings.
i don't think reese's plates were photoshopped out...
i've done that kind of work, and that looks way too perfect to be taken out...
plus why not take out jake's plates too? his are just blurred, which is what could have been done to reese's if they were on there...
i have also seen pics of certain celebs cars without plates on them...
lindsay lohan's mercedes that she crashed a few months ago didn't have plates, and there are pics of the olsen twins' suvs without plates (just the plaque advertising the dealership)...
both have had their cars longer than 6-8 weeks...
the plates could be in the back window, but with the windows tinted, you can't see them...
