Wow... My mom and I were discussing this just yesterday. Wondering what would her life be like if she were alive. I said I thought that had she married Joe DiMaggio her life would've been far better, and she'd probably be still around.
It is something that I have wondered about.
At 80, if she were still alive, I would hope to imagine she would be living comfortably within her old age surrounded by family - something I wish for all elderly people

I'd say she would have been depressed. Alive, but depressed. Poor woman. She had a sad life.

She did but that sadness behind her eyes made her so amazing, such a great actress and so beautiful. Her Roslyn in The Misfits would have been nothing without it.
Whether your happy or not depends on your state of mind. I don't think she lived a sad life she was just bit too fragile. Plus those bastard Kennedys used her and then threw her out and god knows what they had to do with her death.

I honestly don't think Marilyn Monroe would have been as big an icon today if she hadn't died so mysteriously. Same with other icons like James Dean. Had Marilyn not died the way she did, I doubt she'd have become this pop culture icon.

I agree, it is true. Dean especially.
