A true talent has gone with makeup artist Paul Starr's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him a few times and found him to be a hillarious person full of humor and wit and a brilliant make up artist. He will be missed and the make up world has lost a great artist. Rest in peace Paul and our condolences to your family and friends.
Makeup artist Paul Starr was found dead in his apartment in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was thought to be 48.
Few details of Starr’s death were available at press time. According to a friend of his, Starr hadn’t been seen or heard from in several days. After knocking repeatedly on his door, the door was broken down and his body found. The cause was unknown.
In his more than 20 years as a top makeup artist, Starr worked extensively in fashion and film, working as a key makeup artist at fashion shows for designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana and Sass & Bide. He worked with a who’s who of top fashion photographers, including Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and Ellen Von Unwerth, and with commercial, film and video directors such as Tim Burton, Spike Lee and Paul Hunter.
His celebrity clients were said to include Rosanna Arquette, Joni Mitchell, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Jada Pinkett Smith and Anjelica Huston.
In 2003, Starr also created the first national makeup artist team for Estée Lauder, training a group of artists who traveled for the brand.
I can't believe that there are only 4 posts about this, he was a famous top make up artist, did he need to be a gorgeous fashion model to be remembered?
I only know him from his book Paul Starr on Beauty: Conversations With Thirty Celebrated Women. It is one of my favourite beauty books ever. I think it is so sad that he died quite early in life. It makes me think of Kevyn Aucoin that died when he was only fourty.
May both rest in peace.

I felt that placing this post in this forum was somewhat distasteful so I asked to have it removed and placed in announcements but have not heard back yet from the moderator.
