Icon13 McCartney vs. JLo

Well alrighty then.....

September 14, 2005 -- NY Post

Heather vs. J.Lo: A day in the strife

It's turning into a street brawl between Heather Mills McCartney, wife of Paul McCartney, and Jennifer Lopez, wife of Marc Anthony.

Yesterday morning, the attention-grabbing Beatle spouse and anti-fur activist staged a press conference with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), at which she slagged Diddy and other fur-loving celebs inside the Fashion Week tents at Bryant Park.

Then McCartney marched across Sixth Ave. with an army of camera crews and stormed the offices of Sweetface, J.Lo's fur-trimmed clothing line, to present the singer-actress with a grisly PETA video showing innocent mammals being skinned alive. Lopez, whose rep declined to comment yesterday, wasn't there.

"PETA has tried for years to educate her about fur - at first gently and quietly, and now like this," McCartney told me immediately after the invasion - which ended in a melee of zealots, reporters and security personnel shouting threats to call the cops in the fifth-floor reception area of J.Lo's headquarters.

"She keeps saying she wants to be educated. So the next stage is I'll find out where she lives and show up there," McCartney vowed. "And I'll get ahold of her at her premieres."

At Sweetface, McCartney brandished the video, denounced J.Lo and posed in front of a couple of huge posters of her. "Get out of here, you're not invited!" the security folks cried, before McCartney and her entourage finally withdrew.

So what if Lopez takes out a restraining order against her?

In response McCartney laughed scornfully.

"She needs to find some warmth inside her and penetrate that warmth in her heart," she advised, adding: "I talked to Paul today and he's very proud."

Meanwhile, I asked McCartney - who spent two years in the war-torn Balkans working against land mines and who lost a leg in a traffic accident - her response to an off-color joke told by Rod Stewart's daughter Kimberly in the latest issue of Stuff magazine: "What has three legs and lives on a farm? Paul McCartney and his wife."

McCartney said: "Rod Stewart is a long-term friend of Paul's, so I doubt she said it."

I wonder what Stella thinks of this

I love how it says wife of Paul McCartney and wife of Marc Anthony
I wouldn't be surprised if Kimberly Stewart did say that. If it was an interview then why wouldn't Stuff Magazine print it. She likes to slag off others.

And I have just lost all of the respect I had for her. I guess she has already forgotten how the press targeted her, hounded her and tried to destroy her career and reputation, so she thinks it's OK to do a similar thing to someone else. I hope she does show up at Jennifer's house so she can be promptly arrested then sued for harassment.

I supported her efforts to educate people about the use of dog and cat fur and I supported her idea of boycotting J Crew, but this I cannot support. I am very disappointed in her actions because I thought she was a better person than that.

btw, I personally would like someone to tell me why JLo is such a popular target for these people, especially considering all of the other celebrities/designers that wear and/or use fur.

I honestly didn't mean for this thread to turn into a Heather and Paul McCartney tabloid-style bashfest. If that is what it is going to become, then I would rather it disappear. She has never uttered an ill word about any of her stepchildren, in fact she wears Stella's designs consistently and has praised her in interviews.

To be fair, the majority of Heather's work for amputees is done behind the scenes, however, as with any worthy cause there has to be some publicity or else people won't know about it. She was working in this capacity long before marrying Paul McCartney. I find her far less publicity-seeking than most celebrities I can think of, including Ms. Lopez.

My problem is with her targeting JLo and essentially making a public threat against her. For an organization that is always talking about compassion, they seem to have none for their fellow homo sapiens. The media has not helped, since they give PETA far too much attention and have elevated them to an almost acceptable/cool status. They are not seen for the serious threat they have the potential to become. Someone really needs to draw a line before things get out of hand.

Bloody hell, what is it with these pointless women in Paul Mcartney's life?

Pair of little talentless attention seekers desperately trying to make their names with whatever methods. If Paul's wife truly cared, she'd go to the source of the problem: companies, factories, people behind the scenes..... but no she'd rather target a high profile celebrity in the most public ludicrous way possible so she can get her name in the papers....

Wonder if Heather has tried 'educating/stalking' Stella these days seeing as she's taken to wearing leather....

And there are tons more celebs that wear fur and leather, such as Madonna and Gwyneth AKA Stella McCartney's close friends I suggest Paul's wife have a quiet word with them....

Protesting at the fur's not going far enough, we should all start protesting at the clothes

AMEN!

Peta is nothing but a bunch of pshycos who don't even like people.

I'm all for the Ethical treatment of animals, but I don't support them and their radical tactics at all.

About McCartney vs. JLo, I highly doubt that Jen is going to budge any time soon.

They're freakin crazy! If people wanna wear fur it's their business!

If anything its that DISGUSTING mink hat that Naomi wears at the end of her fall 05 show that warrants harassment.

I totally agree with you. I have lost respect for her. Where I respect her beliefs, and understand her stand, and other PETA supporters' for animal rights, I do not respect her actions. Damn.
