If you're just tuning in, you may or may not have heard by now that
Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson are calling it quits and putting an end to their almost three year marriage.
The couple have secretly been split for close to two months now, sources tell
Us Weekly, who have the former
Newlyweds on their cover this week.
"There will be no forced reconciliation," a source tells the pub. "They should have just ended it six months ago but there was always another business reason not to break up. The marriage kept going for all the wrong reasons and they ended up hating each other."
Jessica's father,
Joe Simpson, is said to be the driving force in keeping the problems concealed.
And, while only Nick & Jessica will ever truly only be the two people to really know what went wrong in their marriage,
Us Weekly places the blame solely on Simpson's shoulders. And, it is quite startling how apparently one-sided (in favor of Lachey) the article is. Now, we're not here to defend Jessica Simpson, but somebody sure has an axe to grind!
So, what led to the divorce? According to
Us, Simpson's growing stardom, her increased independence and her newfound love of the Hollywood party scene was ultimately responsible for the split.
"Jessica's the problem," a source tells the pub. "She not the girl America fell in love with anymore."
Digging the knife deeper into Simpson's back,
Us Weekly goes on to write, "Signs of strife had been apparent to observers for well over a year as, not coincidentally, Simpson underwent a transformation from a C-list sweetheart to an A-list temptress. Meanwhile, Lachey, by all accounts, remained the affable,down-to-earth jock." Oh yeah, we're sure Nick Lachey is an angel!
Simpson and Lachey tried to keep up appearances for as long as they could, but the couple didn't do a very good job at it. Lachey barely visited Simpson while she was filming
Dukes in Louisiana. Jessica took a habit of not wearing her wedding ring and the former homebody also discovered the newfound joys of clubbing.
Says
Us Weekly, "What's more, former homebody Simpson became a club fixture, one night partying alongside Wilmer Valderrama at Spider club in LA, the next night dancing on the seats at Spider Club -

Then there was that now infamous night when Simpson "slept" with
Bam Margera.
Add to all that rumors that Simpson also had an affair with
Johnny Knoxville, which sources tell us that folks at
Us Weekly and
Star allegedly confirmed to be true but didn't print for fear of being sued by Joe Simpson.
Papa Joe also had a role in the demise of the Simpson/Lachey union. To put it mildly, Nick hates Joe!
Joe would not only accompany Nick and Jessica to awards show, but he would also go with them on vacation and be breathing down their necks every waking second.
It seems now that former good girl Jessica is not only rebelling against her husband, but also against her father as well.
"Joe has no control over Jessica anymore," a source tells Us. "Jessica won't listen to anyone!"
And, to make things even juicier, Simpson has also become professionally "difficult" as well.
Jessica pulled out of cover shoots for Teen People and Rolling Stone, arranged to help support sister Ashlee's new album. (

Rolling Stone is still attempting to reschedule.)
Lachey, who has not been seen in public with Simpson since they sang together last month at a football game, is working as a commentator for ESPN and will soon be releasing an album that no one will buy.
As for Simpson, though her marriage to Lachey is caput, she was all smiles in Vegas over the weekend. She's young, she's soon-to-single and a sl*t! Plus, she has a new album coming out and
the lead single is called Fired Up. Oh, how true!
